Now, using only your smartphone, you can find out who this band is, the name of the song and where their next gig is long before the your latte arrives. With Shazam Encore (www.shazam.com), you can find out the name of the song and the artist faster than you can say, “I wonder if the singer is as hot as they sound?” With Gigfinder for Nokia (http://store.ovi.com/content/27590?clickSource=search), you can find the artist’s next gig at lightening speed and even purchase tickets using your phone. We can’t guarantee that you’ll have better taste in music, but at least you’ll know what you like.

This week on the Lady Geek TV App Show we have a special Mumsnet episode with the founder of Mumsnet.com Justine Roberts. Justine and Debs will be showing you smartphone apps that will keep your children from getting bored, as well as an app to video record those rare moments when your child is behaving perfectly.

First up this week is Fish School (brought to our attention by The App Whisperer). Fish School is an educational iPhone App which teaches your kids reading, maths and differences with the help of brightly coloured fish floating in formation, spelling out words, numbers, and shapes.

Next we have Qik, the mobile video camera, a real favourite from Nokia’s Ovi store. It transmits a videostream live to the web, fantastic for capturing and, more importantly, sharing those spontaneous moments as they happen and ensure you keep those unforgettable memories.

THE LADY GEEK TV MOBILE APP SHOW puts smartphone apps to task in the real world.

Each week we want to bring you the very best in apps.

This week we put Ovi Maps, Sit & Squat and Touchnote to task in the real world. OviMaps is a feature-loaded Nokia-exclusive app, which gives real time high-quality GPS-directions in 72 countries and helps you get from A to B without any stress.  The enormously helpful Charmin Sit & Squat app will find the nearest toilet fit for human use and even provide photographic evidence that the toilet is clean (phew). Touchnote, the final app of the week, turns any image on your smartphone into a postcard to dispatch by post to your loved ones without the need to carry for pen, paper, stamps and your holiday phrasebook.
