    FACEOFF! Following political sway through social media

    In the wings looms heavily a general election. You hadn’t noticed? So far by the leaders of the political parties there has been limited (success) social media engagement. So Facebook or Twitter; Tory, LibDem or Labour: Which is it to be?

    Loathed to extremes. One Facebook Profile.

    Online, whose responsibility is it then to safeguard us?
    It is unrealistic to propose a social network lock down. Web profiles can reveal (and also hide) so much. This would be a darkness falling on personal freedoms at the loss of the flow and expression of social information. Many of those incidental connections simply would not be possible without the freedom to create Profiles, send requests, respond and grow with our networks.

    Who/what will be 2010s key influencer’s? In the run up to the General Election maybe it will be the highs (and no doubt lows) of politics and politicians. This time we have political ‘news’ and ‘views’ via their Twitter feeds. Here’s the crunch. First are we really that interested in what they tweet?

    Freedom to ride the web? It’s going to rust.

    Our freedoms as they (seemingly) are on the web: fluid, multi-dimensional, creative, and even (at times) considerate and assertive, have, I must warn you, only a limited lifespan.
