Well I have recently gotten my hands on an iPod Touch 16GB. It’s not mine yet, and so I’m reluctant to call it “mine” but I have to say… if I am forced to give it back, I think I’m really going to miss it.
most recently I have decided to finally make myself an expert on Jailbreaking the iPod Touch (yes this would include the iPhone too). Initially I got a little help from a new friend (who I met at Mobile Geeks London III last week) and about 2 days ago I decided to update my 1.1.1 firmware… but to what? 1.1.3? or the latest 1.1.4? I had no idea… so I just dove right in (after making sure I could not break the iPod and could always restore if worst comes to worst).
Well 2 days later… I have gotten myself very familiar with the different methods of hacking the iPhone and iPod Touch. This thing is truly amazing and I wish Apple would wise up and just open up both but at least now I have a much better understanding how the system inside the iPhone/iPod Touch works.
So the new firmware 1.1.4 just came out last week and everyone focused on getting it to run on the iPhone… which they have. But the same methods (most popular being ZiPhone) does not work for the iPod Touch 16GB yet so I had to find a different way.
So after 2 days… here it is. The iPod Touch I am using is now running 1.1.4 jailbreak and it works GREAT!!! Here is the link with the instructions (for all you iPhone users, just run ZiPhone 2.5 and you’ll be fine).
I’m very pleased with myself for this… and now I’m going to have a nice cold beer.
