We’re pretty much right in the middle of the holiday season here in the UK and I just got sent what I would class as one of those essential holiday or business travel items. It’s particularly useful for on planes, or as a passenger in a long car journey. What am I talking about? Well the Sound Asleep pillow of course. It’s a travel pillow with two little cushioned speakers integrated into it and in th
e pocket in the side of it you’ll find the cable to plug in your ipod (or at least I would if I hadn’t lost mine! I need to start looking into what to replace that with, suggestions welcome!) or iPhone or anything that takes the standard headphone jack! It’s a simple device with no batteries required and folds up neatly into a small carry pouch. In terms of it’s size and shape it’s comfy and small to take with you. Even with the speakers in it’s still light too. However saying that the sound quality isn’t brilliant but what would you expect from such little light speakers. The pillow is a sensible balance between functionality and sound quality. After all 5 minutes of listening to something chilled and you’ll be fast asleep anyway! The only thing I did wish with this was that my ipod could actually fit in the pocket that way the device would also be integrated and wouldn’t be dangling down the side. This is one of those devices I’ve been wanting to have for some time. It resolves the issue of travelling with headphones and wanting to listen to music while dozing off. Headphones are so uncomfortable when you’re trying to get your head down, so for me this is a gadget win. Now all I need is a holiday so that I can take it on a plane and doze whilst going to the USA or wherever. I’d say this is a long haul flight necessity! For those interested in the cost of the device it comes in at £15.00 and can be bought directly from the supplier.
