Nominations for the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are now open. You can nominate businesses and individuals. The deadline for submissions is midnight on the 31st October 2007. The reason that I’m writing about this is because I REALLY, REALLY want to see some recognition going to a few females who have made great contributions to women in enterprise here in the UK. I’m not going to tell you who to vote for or even who to nominate, that is up to you to do!

This is also an opportunity to recognise those entrepreneurs in the tech industry who have successfully started their own tech business. It would be great to see the tech industry get a positive boost and provide some new up and coming role models.

Other awards and competitions that you can also nominate people for are as follows:

  • Natwest Everywoman Awards recognise and celebrate women who have the courage to go it alone. Closing date 31 August 07 2007.
  • North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards recognise and reward the contribution being made by women to the economy in the north east. Closing date 21 September 2007.

Have some fun and take the time to make a few nominations for your favourites. Time to give some recognition to those people in enterprise that you really look up to! Give you’re role models the recognition they deserve!

If you can’t think of anyone to nominate then have a look on There’s More to Life than Shoes and you might just find that little bit of inspiration that you are looking for!
