  • I’ve been offered two free conference tickets to the Web 2.0 Expo in Germany. Due to other commitments I’m unable to use them and as such I’m going to offer the opportunity to two female university students in the UK via a very short competition. Why so short… well the event is on from the 5th – 8th November 2007 which isn’t far off! The event should be fantastic with speakers such as Tim O’Reilly and Kathy Sierra to name just a couple!

    Bloggers I need your help!
I need you to get the word out to as many female students in the UK as you can who would be interested in this prize! I want it to go to a really deserving couple of students.

The sheer amount of opportunity for them to learn from industry leaders there is amazing and as an attendee they will get the opportunity to be right there with the best and the brightest! I really want to give this prize to someone who would benefit from being there!

    The Competition
In no more than 50 words explain how you would use this opportunity and what you would like to learn from the event. Post your responses to this post and include your university e-mail address in your submission. (otherwise I can’t possibly send you the prize!)

This competition will finish on Tuesday 23rd October 2007 at 6pm. The ticket does not cover travel expenses or accommodation however I am trying to find a sponsor to cover this. In the eventuality that I can’t find one for some reason, then I am willing to talk to your head of department and help you to sway them into covering your costs ;) (I did something similar whilst at uni to get to the World 3GSM Congress and it worked well.)

If a company would like to sponsor the expenses for travel and accommodation for a student then do get in touch and I’d be happy to include that in the package!

You will also be invited to the launch party for Girl Geek Dinners in Germany!

Why are we doing this? Well we want to share the Girl Geek and Web 2.0 Experience. Part of the idea behind Girl Geek Dinners is to support students at universities and schools to give them the opportunity to shine!

Two males from Stanford took web1.0 and Google was born, now two female third year comp-scientists could use this visit to unravel the enigma of web2.0.
We’d value the opportunity to see how years of research has been translated into practise as insight for our future research careers.
