It seems fitting in the same week that the UK is experiencing our ‘wildest storm’ for two decades my latest post; ‘the best place to meet a Girl Geek‘, in response to Cosmopolitan Magazine’s dreadful and over patronising reporting of their ‘Best places to meet a man’ article, has ruffled a few feathers.
Well good.
I can only hope that Editor-in-Chief: Kate White, ‘Senior Vice President’ (as she refers to herself on her website) is taking note.
Then again maybe I think Kate may fall outside of the Girl Geek demographic.
To continue with the feather ruffling, and for our own investigative purposes here at Girl Geeks, Sarah has been good enough to set up two polls. The first to indicate the favoured ‘Geek mags’, and second to select the ‘most Girl Geek friendly’ magazines. And please make your own suggestions in our comments section!
There could be a misnomer here as you (like myself) could define oneself as a ‘geek’ of fashion, food etc. and favour Vogue or Olive as your ‘Geek mag’ of choice. However, for Girl Geek purposes, I think that it is fair to say anything with a technical and technology focus is our over-riding definition of a ‘Geeky’ publication.
I’m just sorry that ‘Stuff’ magazine has failed to make an appearance in the right-hand poll bar, but that would be for ‘least likely to produce an valued and enquiring article’ rather than as a possible ‘best of’. But I’m being unfair, after all the boys over at Stuff are excellent at reproducing a collage of images for their own version of ‘Girl Geeks’. Wonder how they would react to a ‘real’ Girl Geek in their midst?
With that thought buzzing through your brain please support our investigative mole poll and click your preferences in the right-hand part of the page…
