It’s British science week this week (9th -18th March) and Winchester Science Centre are going to be in Westquay Shopping Centre (Level 2) on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 March to help celebrate it with a series of free events and activities.
They are running a mini-Secret World of Gases live show, featuring exciting liquid nitrogen and dry ice demonstrations. There will also be lots of free hands-on activities to try from the Invention Studio, from sneak preview paper bangers and the dragon bowl from their Sounds Interesting theme (coming to the Science Centre this Easter) to the K’NEX buggy challenge, robot arms and levitation bubbles! The live science shows and demonstrations takes place throughout the weekend.
All the details for this weekend can be found here.
The idea behind these sort of events is to show some of the more fun ways that science can be used to inspire young people to consider a career in this space in the future. Winchester Science Centre is an amazing Hampshire resource and on site they have hundreds of hands on experiments, a beautiful planetarium and some fantastic events throughout the year. If you are planning on being in the area it’s one not to miss.
